In January, I traveled to St. Lucia and sought out several resorts in Soufrière in need of marketing photography. Fond Doux Plantation and Resort wanted some images to use for promotion of their resort to help drive more bookings. Fond Doux was one of my favorite resorts that I photographed because of it’s lush landscape and history! They are a 19th century Eco-friendly resort situated on cocoa groves with luxury cottages and two on-site restaurants. A great draw to this resort is the fact that guests can actually participate in the process of making chocolate!
Entering Fond Doux is like walking into a tropical oasis. Their resort is filled with lush tropical plants and the smell of cocoa. It’s hard not to be overcome with the feeling of relaxation just walking around the grounds. Many people come to Fond Doux for destination weddings, to honeymoon or just to take a personal retreat.
The first day I spent photographing at Fond Doux, I captured the the area where many brides get married, called the “Circle of Love Gazebo”, located in the heart of the resort among a lush tropical garden. Traveling anywhere in Soufrière can mean rain at any time because of the rain forest climate it is located in. I carefully planned out the days that I traveled to the resort to photograph, making sure that the weather was looking promising. We needed some sunshine to really show off the highlights of the resort and enhance the already tropical feel.
I wanted to make sure to capture the other main drawing points to Fond Doux, as well, like their cocoa drying trays, honeymoon suites, restaurants and pools. Their marketing team showed me around and gave me a list of their desired shots. I captured multiple angles of each location, making sure to show off and enhance the beauty of each. Here are a few of the many photographs that we came away with at the end of the week, highlighting what makes Fond Doux Plantation and Resort unique. It was a joy to work with the Fond Doux staff, who were so friendly and helpful throughout the entire production process!
